powerspersonality Ruthlessly competent and entirely aware of it, Kali has no compunctions against doing what she knows needs to be done to finish her job. And the job requires very, very nasty things sometimes. She’s every bit as manipulative, sneaky and smooth talking as she has to be, living up to the full expectations of being an Eclipse mercenary. The prerequisites being: calculating, in control, and utterly dangerous. Holding your ground is a major part of being in Eclipse and this has transformed Kali’s already stubborn nature into something almost entirely immovable- for better or for worse. There are very few lines she won’t cross, but the boundaries she has are very strict- no directly hurting children being the prominent one. Despite her cool proficiency with her job, she’s astoundingly passionate and it’s startlingly easy to send her flying into a destructive(both outwardly and towards herself) rage. It just depends on whether or not she makes the effort to control it that decides if the offender lives. She’s not something as mundane as a survivor; she’s a destroyer.

history There’s not much Kali’s willing to say about her past, leaving only a few of her Eclipse companions with any knowledge of who she was before joining them. Truthfully, it’s just a means of protecting herself, after all ‘knowledge is power’ and she refuses to let anyone have any real power over her. It’s not even as if her past is immensely interesting. She grew up on Earth with her mother and younger brother. When she was fourteen her mother died and they were sent to separate foster care families. She doesn’t know where he is now, but if she had a lead towards finding him, she would take it in an instant.
After being dumped on her apathetic foster family, Kali floundered at the lack of restrictions and sought out an outlet for her time and rage at having her life ripped to shreds. She spent more and more time away from ‘home’ and finally decided she could do a better job of taking care of herself; it’s not as if they were doing much to provide for her anyway. There was a certain sort of alluring thrill doing whatever and taking whatever you wanted that Kali adored. Living on the streets for a few months with a small-time gang prodded her biotic powers to the surface, and she grew and grew in strength and ranks until she was in second command of the gang, in charge and absolutely reveling in it.
An altercation with a small group of Eclipse smugglers should have led to her death, but instead they chose to recruit her. She immediately cut all ties with her first gang and flew off planet with them. A decade had her hopping around the galaxy doing jobs for Eclipse while her biotics grew even stronger. Here too, she rose in the ranks quickly, being let in on high priority hits and getting access to things very few knew about. She sees the Reaper invasion as an unwelcome hindrance in her rise to power, but will utilize the resulting chaos in any way she can.
roleplay example When Kali’s head cleared she was sliding. The smooth plates of her armor did nothing to slow her descent; every foot or so they produced a loud ‘clack’ when bumping over ridges in the service catwalk she had been perched on that was now almost vertical. Her hands shot out and grabbed a bar, the force pulling her entire body taut. She stifled any involuntary noise at the burn of the sudden stretch and swung for a moment before she pulled herself onto it fully and looked down.
Debris littered the ground everywhere, bodies were strewn about and it looked like an entire half a wall had been blown in. She surveyed the bodies-the one’s whose faces she could see- and grit her teeth as her eyes landed on one. Just the side of a face, slack and open-mouthed, but it was a face she’d studied and tracked relentlessly. And now she was quickly becoming angry. So burningly angry that the glow of her biotics sparked and scattered across the surface of her skin. Everything had been going so swimmingly when the building just up and exploded, killing her mark. The pain of probably tearing a muscle in her arm pissed her off, but some asshole trying to steal her job enraged her even more. And whoever this was couldn't find a more conspicuous way than blowing up an entire building? Stupid amateur.
Kali dropped the last few yards to the ground; a crouch and roll absorbing most of the shock. She stomped to the body of her mark, hastily grabbed the datapad Eclipse was after him for, then left the building, her biotics surging around her as she prepared to flay whoever the hell was responsible for this. The view outside, though, had not been what she expected. No dimwitted mercs, no Alliance, no cops, just absolute chaos.
